Why Your Relationship with Your Respiratory Therapist Is Important

To learn more about why your relationship with your respiratory therapist is important, continue reading.

Respiratory therapists provide emotional support to those who are undergoing treatment. They are also able to quickly assess and solve problems in an emergency situation. Therefore, having a good relationship with your therapist is crucial to your recovery. To learn more about why your relationship with your respiratory therapist is important, continue reading.

Compassion

By having a good relationship with your respiratory therapist (RT), you will feel more connected to them and will see the compassion they have for you and what you are going through. Although every therapist will have compassion, by having a good relationship with them, it will feel like a partnership instead of just a person helping you because it's their job. By having that bond, you two will become friends and will get to know each other very well.

Communication

By having a good relationship with your RT, you will be able to communicate more effectively with them. You will feel comfortable informing them of how you think your treatment is going or if you think that a new course would be more effective. This enables you to get the best care possible. By not having that good relationship, you could be more hesitant to discuss what is going on inside your head, which could impact your treatment and overall health.

Make sure when you are first receiving treatment from your respiratory therapist, you start to build the foundations of a good relationship. This will benefit you in the long run as you will also have someone there to help you through your treatments! Looking for a solution to your respiratory issues? We offer respiratory diagnostic consultations and testing to get to the bottom of what is bothering you and your body.
